Henry's Fork
Cradled in the collapsed core of an ancient volcano lies a sparkling circle of water called Henry's Lake. It's celebrated both for it's own remarkable fishery and as a source of one of America's most famous trout streams…the Henry's Fork of the Snake River.
For decades anglers from around the globe have journeyed to the Henry's Fork to cast their lines into its clear waters. Waters replenished by immense springs draining the nearby Yellowstone aquifer. A few miles from Henry's Lake, Big Springs triples the size of the Henry's Fork and cools the river to an ideal temperature for trophy-sized trout.
This area has long been known as an incredible fishing destination. Among the famous fishermen it has attracted are Theodore Roosevelt, William Jennings Bryan and railroad magnate Roland Harriman. Over the years, the Henry's Forks dazzling waters and large elusive fish have enchanted scores of anglers.
This is one of the ultimate places for fly fishermen to challenge themselves. Selecting exactly the right fly to imitate a hatch, and following through with a flawless presentation is an art form. And in the Henrys Fork gallery, local angler Rene Harrop is one of the artisits.
Renee Harrop-Expert Fly-Fisherman
"I think if you talk to any fisherman that has spent any time here at all, they would explain to you how this river can hold you captive, how this land can hold you captive. And to be fortunate enough to call this place home is something that I can say I'm truly grateful to recognize. Ii think life is about finding joy and for me there's no greater joy than every day on this river. It's as good as it gets."
