What We're Working On
This is a list of some of the shows we're working on.
1. Wild Fire
For much of the 20th century, we accepted the notion that wild fires were bad. But now it seems we are reaping the whirlwind of a policy that had the best of intentions. As the fire season gets longer and more intense, we explore the problems of wild fire. To air July 24 & 27.
We profile Butch Small and his fifth generation ranching family from eastern Idaho. John Crancer producer; Chuck Cathcart director. To air in October.
3. Mining Idaho
It was mining that brought Idaho to statehood; and mining is still important to the Gem State and to the nation. We'll meet some interesting characters; we'll examine what should or shouldn't be changed in the way we mine for minerals; and in the process we'll learn a thing or two about Idaho's mining history, as well as its future and its current status. To air in October.
4. Extremely Idaho 2
More wild and crazy sports that Idahoans enjoy. To air in December
5. Winter Sports
We look at the fascination of some whacky winter sports. Joan Cartan-Hansen producing. To air in January of 2009.
6. Idaho's Yellowstone
A small part of Yellowstone National Park is actually within the Idaho border, but this enchanting landscape faces the same challenges confronting the rest of America's favorite Park: the impact of wolves on elk; the down-listing of grizzlies; the threats to the native cutthroat population; the controversy surrounding the bison. To air in February of 2009.
7. The Oregon Trail
We'll relive that amazing period of America's push westward, as families risked everything to find the new promised land. To air in March of 2009.
8. Wildlife Refuges
We explore some of Idaho's special places, places animals can call home. To air in April of 2009.
9. Kids in the Outdoors
As America's children spend more time in front of TV and computer screens, they seem to be losing that connection with the outdoors. Not good. To air in May of 2009.
