United States Senator (GOP)

Qualifications: 30 years of age; U.S. citizen for at least nine years; Idaho resident
Term of office: Two years
Salary: Approximately $169,300 in 2008
Duties: Assess and collect taxes; regulate commerce, both interstate and foreign; pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; coin money; establish post offices; establish courts inferior to the Supreme Court; declare war; and raise and maintain an army and navy. To make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into execution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the government of the United States, or in any department or officer thereof.
